Hear my words – Mozart, Parry, Purcell, Whitbourn
211 Willis St
Te Aro, Wellington 6011
New Zealand
The Bach Choir is pleased to announce that our rescheduled performance of this concert will begin 3pm Sunday 15 May, at St Peter’s on Willis St, Wellington.
The title comes from Parry’s anthem Hear my words, ye people, a work for choir, soloists and organ which finishes with his own hymn tune Laudate Dominum (O praise ye the Lord). The programme also includes Purcell’s joyful settings of Te Deum and Jubilate in D, and Mozart’s Vesperae solennes de Confessore, K.339 — which includes the famous soprano solo Laudate Dominum. Lastly, the Son of God Mass by English composer James Whitbourn incorporates a soprano saxophone which gives the mass a very contemporary feel. This is an exciting programme and one not to be missed.
Admission $30 / $20 unwaged / $10 for tertiary students with ID. Tickets are available from Marsden Books (Karori), choir members, and from 6:30pm on the door.
